A Harold Camping alternative for Northern NJ and NYC

Many years ago now (early '80's), we were involved with a fine local group named Christian Media Associates, which helped Family Radio extend Northward, from Newark, NJ up into the Hudson Valley of NY State.  Those were the days when Harold Camping was relatively faithful to the scriptures and supported churches.

After a tremendous amount of investment by the team up here, both in time and finances, unfortunately Harold Camping led Family Radio to abandon its own original promotional materials (this per Richard Palmquist) of supporting churches.  Harold Camping was allowed to go down the destructive path of date setting, denying the church, and embracing some of the tenets shared by the Jehovah Witnesses.

After Scott Smith and Richard Van Dyk passed on, the voting Board at Family Radio provided no guidance, nor resistance to Harold Camping's teaching.  There was one faithful board member who did not agree, but that person was never given a vote!  It was a story that ripped your heart out, and still does.   Harold Camping would ultimately assert that God was "done with the church," starting May 1988 (the very date that he left the Alameda Christian Reformed Church).   Besides telling church folks to leave their churches, he also told them to stop partaking of the Lord’s Supper and that they were not to be baptized.  It is hard to fathom the depth of apostasy to which he has fallen.  Now we see Family Radio's bill boards all over the United States, in the major cities (and some around the world) declaring with absolute certainty the second coming of Christ, with “day and hour” precision.  A Caravan of confused Campingites travel from city to city, with pre-rehearsed sound bites, furthering Harold Camping's false teaching.  All of this nonsense is a direct result of Harold Camping, and does not represent the majority of the faithful workers at Family Radio, who to this day, love Christ and attend church.

To summarize Harold Camping's position: No Church, no Hell, no Baptism, no Lord's Supper, no assurance of salvation ("I hope God will save me").  He teaches that Jesus did not really die for our sins on the Cross of Calvary - it was a mere "demonstration."  He treats the Bible as a magical number book which only he can divine, as he receives these new revelations.  He has made 10 previous false end-of-the-world predictions (not just September 6, 1994 - contact us for the list).

The Scriptures warn us against such heresy.

One of Redeemer Broadcasting’s goals is to provide a Harold Camping alternative and continue to minister faithful traditional programming that can support Christians in their daily walk with the Lord, as well as their churches. Our small network of stations is located in a Family Radio area, so this is an issue that has to be dealt with.

We believe that even after May 21, that Harold Camping will not publically repent, and will not reverse his stance AGAINST the church.   That is a huge problem, namely: Family Radio's continuation of its denial of the Church is due to Harold Camping, not the internat workers. But Harold Camping makes sure that the network becomes an extention of his personal beliefs without representing anyone else in the network.

Our opinion is that for the normative case, if you will not have the Church, then you cannot have Christ.

Having helped Family Radio in the past, and now starting Redeemer was like beginning our broadcast journey all over again.  But we want to help people and follow the leading of our Lord.

Praise be to God, now the Redeemer Broadcasting Network feed is mature and ready to plug into any station.  We are ready to work along with live morning or afternoon drive hosts, as localism is implemented and encouraged. We are willing to help Family Radio get back on track in the very unlikely scenario that they want us to help. Of course, there would be some strong medicine that would be needed - bascially a complete repudiation of all the falsehoods of Harold Camping since 1994.

We are being contacted on a weekly basis by new friends who found Redeemer Broadcasting and are encouraging us to continue this work so that more can be blessed with the coverage.  There is a very clear need to extend southward into the Northern NJ, NYC and the Long Island areas.

If we could all band together and support such an effort, it would present the most effective voice against Campingism in the Northern NJ and NYC area, and would have a tremendous positive outreach for former FR listeners as well as new listeners. If NYC gets up and running, then the other areas can follow, such as Philly, Annapolis, Joliet, etc.  If you, like many others, grieve over the demise of Family Radio, why not join us and help fix the problem!  We can do this by God's grace and strength, if we band together. We have a lead right now on a station in NYC that covers over 8 Million people.  Help us acquire this station for the glory of Christ!

Redeemer Broadcasting is blessed to have 28 people on our Advisory Board representing 9 states, who keep this ministry accountable and provide substantive input to our programming and to our expansion plans.  We are networking with many Biblically faithful churches within the United States as we work to provide this Christ-centered ministry to God's people.

Please join us today in this most significant effort.  Your designated tax-deductible gift will be set aside for this project.
